KiraChi - Owner of a photo from Amphipolis Under Siege signed by Kevin Smith and Lucy Lawless

I say that Amphipolis Under Siege is one of the best Xena/Ares episodes of all time. It's got conflict between them. It's got passion. It's got denial. And it's got love.

In March 2008, as the convention was approaching, I was offered the chance by a fellow XOCer to have a photo signed. This person would be in London for the convention but didn't mind giving up her autograph to someone else who really wanted it. I was so touched by such a nice offer, that I had to take her up on it (along with many thanks toward her!) I kept thinking what I wanted to get signed. I really wanted Lucy to sign one of my chakrams (either the original or the yin yang one) but I was unsure about sending it overseas to get it signed and then having it brought back.

Then a new member, KiraChi, registered on XOC. She mentioned that she was going to the convention (she lives in England) but that she didn't have a chance to buy the Gold ticket which was the only ticket that would allow you an autograph with Lucy. She mentioned that she had a Xena/Ares photo signed my Kevin Smith and wished that she could have had it signed by Lucy as well. After reading this, I knew what I needed to do. What a rare opportunity to have a photo of Xena/Ares signed by Kevin and to get it signed by Lucy as well? That would truly be a treasure.

So, I contacted KiraChi and told her my offer: that she could use the chance offered to me to get an autograph and then she would have her Xena/Ares autograph signed by both of them. Needless to say, she was so thrilled by this news (and who wouldn't be?) and I was very happy to offer this to her because, above all, I think a photo signed by Lucy and Kevin is a treasure, something that can be loved by all shippers everywhere, not just by that one person who owns it.

When the convention came around, KiraChi had her photo signed. I only wish I could have been there to see it happening.

When she got back home, she went in search of a place to have her photo scanned so that I could get a copy of it, too (I had asked her, prior to it, if I could get a scan since she would be keeping the original and she graciously agreed). About a month after the convention, I finally recieved a package on my doorstep, coming all the way from the United Kingdom, with the scan. It was so beautiful. Really, it may not be the real thing but it is a treasure for me. I immediately went out and purchased a nice picture frame and now I have it hanging on my wall.

Definitely a memory that won't be forgotten! Xenites are the best!
